What is this page about?

This is our Media Project for the class America in its Center - Central America as an Interamerican Space In-Between at Bielefeld University in Germany.

We, that are Carina Baltz, Alexandra Gehrmann, Matthew Lichtenstein, and Janina Zimmer, were interested in Ecotourism in Costa Rica - a country in Central America - and specifically to what extent this new concept of tourism had been an advantage or disadvantage to Costa Rica's environment, population, and species.

The first page "Ecotourism" will give you a short definition of what ecotourism actually is. We then put the concept of ecotourism in a global context before we zoom in and focus specifically on ecotourism in Costa Rica. The second page "Positive Impacts" displays the positive impacts ecotourism has on Costa Rica. Contrastingly, under "Shortcoming" we laid out the negative effects of ecotourism on Costa Rica. Furthermore, in "Outlook" we focused on recommendation as to how ecotourism can improve so that it can be beneficial in every aspect. In addition, you will find our conclusion in this section as well.

Below you will find an interactive map that shows you where ecotourism had positive impacts and shortcomings within specific regions within Costa Rica. Click your way through the map to get to know all about ecotourism in Costa Rica.
